Berkshire Pigs

Berkshire pigs are one of the oldest breeds of domesticated pig and they originate from the English county of Berkshire.  They are a rare heritage breed, known for their docile nature, intelligence and good mothering skills.  Berkshire pigs are a short-legged breed but classed as average to large in size. They are mostly black with white on the snout and legs with an average weight at maturity of 600 lb (270 kg).

Our Berkshire pig breeding program is just starting out and we are currently working with a farm in Ireland to try and improve the genetic variety of the Berkshire breed in Nova Scotia.

Berkshire pork is renowned for its juiciness, flavour and tenderness. We often have pork available for sale in half or whole carcasses, and sometimes as individual chops or joints.

We currently have two gilts and one young boar. At the moment we sell cross-bred or unregistered purebred Berkshire weaners at various times of the year.
